Basic Lifesaving Skills N95 respirator fit testing for healthcare professionals is conducted in accordance with CSA standards, and in compliance with occupational health and safety codes. You will receive a qualitative respiratory fit test, which will take approximately 20 minutes. This includes sensitivity test and fit test, as well as safety donning, doffing, and user seal instructions.
Annual retesting is mandatory for all health authorities to ensure a mask that fits your face for an effective seal to protect you from airborne contaminants. Upon successful completion, you receive a certificate of completion.
Before your N95 fit test, please ensure you:
Do not eat, drink (except for water), chew gum, or smoke, at least 30 minutes before your test. You must remove any facial hair that comes between the seal of the mask and your skin, as per CSA Standard Z94. 4-11.
The cost of a fit test is $35 plus GST, which includes either a 3M 1860, 1860s, or 1870+ respirator.
